Options For Homes

“Ready Program”

The Options for Homes Ready Program helps first-time home buyers gain financial know-how and down payment support to help make homeownership a reality.

The Project :

Options for Homes is doing great work making mortgages more accessible to working class people. Their “Ready Program” shares the load and offers new home buyers down payment support in exchange for a small amount of equity in the property. The task was to develop animated video to raise awareness of the program and, more importantly, explain their offering in a clear way to help people self identify and apply for the program.

The Problem :

Financial topics can be very overwhelming. Percentages, equity, monthly payments…so much information to take in and all centered around an often stressful major life decision. The uniqueness of the Options for Homes offering on top of the regular complexity of mortgages only made it more difficult to explain in a concise way that anyone could understand.

The Solution :

Our approach was to spread this message across a series of three targeted animated videos. The first explained CanPath’s mission and processes to the public. The second targeted researchers to explain the breadth and advantages of CanPath’s datasets and how to access them and the third (featured here) celebrated how CanPath data has helped progress a wide-spectrum of scientific discoveries across the globe.

To help viewer’s connect and understand the participant’s role’s in these discoveries we introduced them to Hex and told the story of how one participant’s contributions throughout their life helped contribute. It’s not just about celebrating results but helping the viewer see how they could be an important part of something bigger.

As a result, the videos exceeded their viewing targets!
